Qi Gong
Qi gong (chee gung) is actually a recent term used for a style of therapeutic exercises traditionally known as Dao Yin. This technique focuses on gentle movements with the breath to enhance circulation, oxygenate cells, boost the immune system, loosen joints, and calm the mind. There are over 5,000 types of Qi gong. Specific exercises can be used to target and address certain ailments with the theory coinciding with TCM.
The central principle of Qi gong is to help build and conserve one’s life energy, or Qi. Regular practice can help regulate the lymphatic and nervous systems, as well as promote overall health and well-being. Qi gong looks similar to Tai Chi, but has a more specific focus and no martial art application. The movements can be very slow or quite explosive, depending on the intention. An important element in the practice of Qi gong is meditation. This is used most often to calm the mind and promote circulation throughout what Traditional Chinese Medicine calls “the Meridian System”. Dr. Gores has been practicing Da Yan Qi gong, Wild Goose, and Wu Ji Qi gong since 1999 with Master Wong Ding Gui from San Francisco. Classes are held every Wednesday in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.http://www.drmontegores.com/qi-gong-classes-starting-february-2017/
