Biography


Dr. Monte Gores is a board certified Acupuncturist and Herbalist by the state of Idaho, Washington, California, and the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). With Over 18 years of experience in Chinese medicine, Dr. Gores brings a wealth of knowledge to treat even the most difficult medical issues.  He is currently the only Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM), the highest academic training in the USA and China, in Coeur d’Alene and Northern Idaho.


In 1992, Dr. Gores began studying yoga, martial arts, and meditation while attending Arizona State University. This was his first introduction to eastern medicine and philosophy. In 1999, he began his formal training in acupuncture, Qi Gong, and herbal medicine while apprenticing at Quan Yin Healing Arts Center in San Francisco. This center is world famous for treating hepatitis C and HIV communities using an integrative medical approach.

After leaving a stressful job with Goldman Sachs, trading equity options in Chicago and San Francisco, Dr. Gores studied Chinese language for a year before traveling to China. He wanted to visit the origins of Chinese medicine before embarking on a lifetime of study and medical practice. Upon returning to San Francisco, he attended one of the top Traditional Chinese Medicine schools in North America, The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM), for four years to earn his Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Dr. Gores also received extensive residency training in the hospitals of China. Orthopedics, diabetes, fertility, oncology, migraines, hepatitis and neprhology were areas of expertise gained while in Hang Zhou, China. In 2004, After graduating Magna Cum Laude, Dr. Gores opened a Acupuncture clinic in Arizona. While maintaining a busy clinical practice, he completed a two year Doctoral program at the acclaimed Emperor’s College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in Santa Monica, CA. The Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) is the highest level of education in the field of Chinese medicine in America. Dr. Gores focused on sports medicine, cardiology, oncology, and women’s health while completing his Doctoral degree. His capstone thesis is entitled, “Acupuncture in the treatment of Insomnia.” After graduation and 10 great years in Flagstaff, Arizona, Dr. Gores and his family decided to relocate to beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The friendly people and beautiful lakes drew them to the area.

Dr. Gores enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and son, hiking, rock climbing, skiing, mountain biking, tai chi, qi gong, and cooking Italian food in his free time.  He and his family live in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
